![]() ![]() My sophomore and junior year were very occupied with academic courses, so I was able to take most of my electives my freshman and senior year. Required classes may seem frustrating, so save room in your schedule to take classes that spark your interests and passions. Never hesitate to ask questions and speak up – it will help you in the long run. It is halfway through the year – the seemingly never-ending hallways and staircases will continue to gain familiarity over time, and upperclassmen would be glad to help guide you to a class. Looking back at my experiences at Ludlowe from an outside perspective, here is some advice to the freshmen who are starting their high school journey that I hope is helpful.įirst off, it is completely normal to feel confused or intimidated. It is the strangest feeling – to feel torn between appreciating the home I have made at Fairfield while also looking forward to moving somewhere new and exciting, yet unfamiliar. Now, as a senior, I have been reminiscing on the past and thinking of the time I have left before I start the next chapter of my life. We all have four years throughout high school that are crucial in order to learn about ourselves, build friendships, expand our horizons, and make some of the best memories of our lives. While it may be intimidating to join a sport, especially if you have never played it before, I would highly encourage just joining any club or sport you are interested in (if you are interested in playing lacrosse this spring, go see Ms. My freshman year, I signed up for the lacrosse team and I have formed so many valuable friendships because of it. Counselors are instrumental in determining what classes one gets and, if the students make the effort, they work very hard to make each students’ schedule work best for their needs. Being close with your counselor is also important all throughout highschool and not just for college. The one thing that could make this process easier is establishing a good relationship with your counselor. I think I can speak for the whole senior class when I say that the college application process is daunting and we wish we had prepared for this earlier. This week I conducted interviews asking students in the senior class what advice they have for freshmen beginnin their journey at Allderdice. ![]() We have all had the classic freshman experience getting lost finding the first floor annex, trying to find toilet paper in the bathroom, and most of all, figuring out how to work your VPN. But for the class of 2027, they are just getting started. As a senior, I wasn’t particularly excited for the school year, and I was long tired of the annual first day of school picture my mom makes me take. Every school year comes with a new adventure and a whole new class of students. On Monday, August 28, students at Allderdice began their 2023-2024 school year. ![]()
